Director of Security – Full-Time

Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Director of Security to oversee the safety and security operations of a large private institution. This role is essential in maintaining a secure environment, ensuring the protection of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and volunteers. The Director of Security will be responsible for risk management, developing security strategies, and ensuring the successful implementation of security protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Program Development & Management:
Lead the creation and implementation of security programs that engage law enforcement, military, and medical professionals, enhancing campus security and emergency medical support. - Security Policy & Procedures:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security policies and procedures that align with the institution’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). - Personnel Management & Training:
Oversee and manage security personnel, ensuring proper training, compliance with regulatory requirements, and coordination with external security vendors for effective coverage across the campus. - Target Hardening & Infrastructure Security:
Implement strategies to reinforce physical security by upgrading locks, reinforcing doors and windows, and controlling access points to mitigate risks. - Surveillance & Technology Management:
Manage the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of surveillance systems to ensure their integration with overall security strategies and proficiency in their operation. - Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
Conduct regular assessments to identify security threats and vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to address potential risks. - Daily Security Operations:
Ensure a visible and effective security presence on campus, especially during athletic events and extracurricular activities, providing leadership and supervision to security teams. - Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with administration, athletics, and other stakeholders to align security operations with the institution’s overall goals. Facilitate effective communication between internal teams and external vendors. - Training & Continuous Improvement:
Develop and implement ongoing training programs for all security personnel, ensuring continuous updates on security protocols, technology, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field (Required)
- At least 5 years of experience in security management, preferably in an educational or similar environment
- Proven ability to manage security personnel and implement security protocols
- Proficiency in security technology, including surveillance systems
- Knowledge of law enforcement practices and compliance with security regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to evolving security threats and best practices
